PIANO MEETS VIBES

„Morning Clouds“ is a very special project for us. Deeply rooted in our common musical identity, it is strongly infuenced by our work as flm composers. The sound was shaped by twenty years of shared experiences and our love of music. Every note resounds with the fantastic atmosphere of recording the pieces at Yamaha in Hamburg on master instruments. The result not only sounds superb, composition-wise it also represents our best and most profound joint efort to date.
When hearing „Morning Clouds“ we‘d like you to ignore classifcations like jazz, classical or world music: open your heart and give way to the images which will arise. For us music is alive and fowing. The frst prize of the International Composition Competition 2007 of the International Marimba League (USA) and the North German Culture Award 2009 were impressive encouragements to continue developing our distinctive style.

For us the titles ConcorDance I & II are synonymous with our work as Piano Meets Vibes over the past twenty years: a dance of corresponding musical heartbeats. The two-part composition mirrors our entire musical range.Together with the piece Morning Clouds, ConcorDance I & II stands for our musical development. These pieces shun stylistic restrictions spanning jazz, classical and contemporary music. Our main focus is the connection with the listener on the level of pure sound.
Winterlied (Winter Song) is a meticulously composed piece by the Berlin flm composer and pianist Axel Donner with whom we have co-operated on various flm scores. We were tempted by his familiar musical style - reminiscent of our own - to create a new arrangement for his composition for piano and vibes.
Erinnerungen an das Morgen (Memories of Tomorrow) is lovingly dedicated to Sünne Lindenthal. This music is a reminder not to neglect thanks, respect, and attentiveness. „What‘s the point of realizing tomorrow what was beautiful about today?“

Reich sein is a play on words. In German it has the additional meaning of „being rich“. Our work is profoundly infuenced by minimalist music. Combining tonal simplicity with complex rhythms and depth of sound, this is our inspiration. We have long been admirers of Steve Reich. Hence; „Reich sein/Being Reich“.
Tanz auf Wolke 7 (Dancing on Cloud 9) simply expresses the joy of playing. Melody and rhythm celebrate the enjoyment of grooving and playing together.
Blick nach vorn (Looking Ahead) signifes confdence and a bold new start.
This piece and Losgelassen (Cut Loose) were the frst compositions for this CD after a long creative break.
Zeit & Raum (Time and Space) simply wants the listener to relax, setting his soul adrift with the sound, creating time and space to follow his own images for a while.
