Journey Into Musical Reality
What exactly is happening here? "Archipelago" - the original Georgian folksong used in Werner Herzog's Nosferatu, now a world dance beat mix, with six bassoon tracks. "Autumn Leaves" - that jazz classic we all know - now a chanson, a pop hit, an art song, a classical piece all in one. Bartoks Concerto for Orchestra undergoes tantric transformations. "Peppermint Twist" pulls us onto a slippery dance floor. Jimmy Page's/Robert Plant's Led Zeppelin "Stairway to Heaven" marries "A Taste of Honey" (in "Stairway to Honey").
This kind of extraordinary music and arrangement can only come out of New York.
Martin Kuuskmannn: Bassoon
William Schimmel: Accordion
David Rozenblatt: Percussion
We "Walk On The Wild Side" with Elmer Bernstein, Oliver Nelson and Jimmy Smith. Argentina and Brasil open windows to wild inner landscapes of Tango and Samba, mixed with Beethoven and Swing. When Estonian Martin Kuuskmann (bassoon), American William Schimmel (accordion) and Russian David Rozenblatt (percussion) - all living in New York - transform musical tradition into a new reality, you can't just dream away.
Walk on the wild side with us, feel the seantic presence of Jimmy Smith, Oliver Nelson, Beethoven, Bartok, Georgia, Brazil...
